Why You Need a Mobile-Friendly Website

Mobile Friendly Website

How your website appears in smaller screens matter a lot. In fact, that single feature alone can affect your business massively. It can make you lose or gain prospective leads and clients. It can hide or connect you to the right people. And it can make or break your business’s success. So if you haven’t made your site mobile-friendly yet, now is the perfect time to do so.

Here’s why you should optimize:

Google is getting smarter – Traditional web practices have long been disregarded. Over the span of years, user behavior across the web have changed drastically. People are constantly in search for information and they want answers to their queries fast. To provide them with the best possible results, Google released the Panda algorithm. And because it works as a filter, it can rank or drop a website depending on its quality. Mobile-friendly sites go up in the ranks, while poorly optimized sites are penalized and dropped off from the SERPs (Search Engines Results Pages).

Smartphones are taking over – Due to its convenience and functionality, smartphones have become an extension in people’s lives nowadays. According to The Statistics Portal’s graph, the number of smartphone user in 2014 was 1.57 billion worldwide. This 2017, a 750 million increase was depicted, resulting to a staggering number of 2.32 billion. By 2020, studies and statistics predicted yet another increase of 550 million more smartphone users.

Mobile activity is increasing – Desktop internet usage is expected to get lower. Marketers are advised to incorporate mobile visibility into their websites. Founder and CEO of The ALEA Group Inc., Louis Foong, posted an infographic in business2community.com. As one of North America’s business-to-business demand generation specialists, Foong stated that at 52.7%, more than half of the internet users worldwide use their mobile devices to access the internet. In fact, in business and finance, mobile beats desktop at 16%. Although there are still content types that attracts desktop users such as online gaming and maps, mobile activity is still predicted to jump up to 72.2% by 2019 in terms of digital advertising.

The online marketplace is changing. With the current generation’s fast paced lifestyle, it’s not surprising that people would go for speed and convenience. Opening a desktop to search for the nearest restaurant and well-rated plumbing services is no longer ideal sometimes. People want something quick and convenient. They want something that they can view through their smartphones and tablets easily.

Remember: Panda ranks mobile-friendly websites higher, smartphone users worldwide are expected to reach 2.87 billion by 2020, and mobile devices will dominate almost 80% of the internet usage in 2018. If you use these to your advantage, your business will be able to reach its target market successfully.
